Pumpkin Pie wears Chuck Taylor sneakers. If you don’t know what these are
because you live under a rock, they are the classic canvas basketball shoe from back when dinosaurs ruled the land. And they are adorable. I don’t know why we get them for Pumpkin Pie, because his feet are so wide they look like they look like they would not be out-of-place on a duck. But, he and Husband and I all love Chucks, so that is what I get for him. Pumpkin Pie’s first pair was hand-me-down high-tops from Pickles and they were black. Then he got a low-top pair and then a high-top burgundy pair he has been wearing for a while. The burgundy pair has been getting a little snug, so he got a new pair this weekend and they have FLAMES on them! Squeeeeeee! I know, they are really, really awesome.
They are low tops so if I loosen the laces really well, he can put them on himself. This is a big bonus because in addition to saving time getting ready, it amuses me:
Pumpkin Pie: Maaawwwwmmmmm… I can’t get my shoes on!
Me (stretching out the laces and opening up the shoe): I’ll help you, try now.
Pumpkin Pie (holding up the right shoe to his left foot): Is this the right foot?
Pumpkin Pie: (Holding up the right shoe to the right foot): How about this one?
Me: Not that one either.
Pumpkin Pie: Oh, man. This is really hard.
I know, there is a special place in hell for people who tease sweet little 4 year-old boys. Bring it.
