Happy Birthday Doodle Dog: A List

Doodle the day we met him.

Doodle , you are two today!  There is no better time to appreciate you publicly.  How do I love you, Doodle Dog?  Let me count down the ways:

11:  You never ask me to change the tv station.  You are happy to watch the cheesiest of Lifetime movies starring Melissa Gilbert or Annie Potts.  You will watch decorating or Glee or House Hunters International without complaint.

10:  You are always happy to see me.  Always.  First thing in the morning, when I come home from the store, even when I have left you alone for a while, I am always a sight for your sore eyes.

Couldn't you just die from the cute?

9:  You never complain about your food.  You may choose not to eat it until you are good and ready, but a complaint never crosses your lips.  I am not sure you even have lips.

8:  You don’t wear shoes so I neither have to buy them nor trip over them which is awe-some.

7:  Even though I have reassured you repeatedly and even though it terrifies you to pieces, I love that you stay close by when I vacuum.  Just in case the Oreck tries something funny.

6:  You are a great and prolific snuggler.  If I am on the couch, you are snuggled up next to me, even if it’s summer.  When I knit while we sit together, you are even kind enough to pretend you don’t mind that much when the yarn tickles your ears.

5:  You are such a good traveller!  You never ask me to pass the granola bars, put on a DVD or stop for a pee break.

4:  You bark when someone needs barked at and it is scary.  The Jehovas’ witnesses haven’t been back since and for that I owe you a sincere debt of gratitude.

3:  We like the same music.

2:  For your special day I don’t feel the need to throw you a character-themed birthday party involving an elaborately decorated cake.  You wouldn’t even want it, anyway.   You’re more of a cupcake guy.

1:  You are shameless about showing me that out of everyone in the whole world you love me the best.  I know it is because I am the only one who remembers to feed you, but that’s okay with me.  Now, let’s snuggle up and share a cupcake.  xoxoxo Dood.  We love you bucketsful.
