This is the last week of school for the kids at the Submarine Preschool. I know, it is breaking my heart because
they really should be in for at least three more weeks my sweet baby Pumpkin Pie is done with preschool. To commemorate the last week, his class had a Spirit Week of sorts. If you aren’t familiar with this phenomenon, it just means that they have some special theme for each day of the week. Thursday is their picnic, Wednesday is an ice cream party, Tuesday is “Favorites” day and Monday was “Mixed-Up” day. So on Monday, they went to school wearing all sorts of mixed up stuff. Some kids wore their clothes inside-out, a couple of boys wore bathing suits, there were some winter hats and gloves, and the teachers wore men’s clothing and decorated for Thanksgiving. They said goodbye instead of hello. You get the idea, fun preschool stuff.
So Pumpkin Pie was all drinking the Preschool Mixed-Up-Day Koolaid and dressed himself up in the following outfit: cammo shorts, a tie dyed shirt, mix-matched knee-high St. Patrick’s Day socks, 2 different shoes, and a frog hat which he turned into a mask by pulling it over his face because he is still a little shy. This was all good fun and we headed to school giggling while Pumpkin Pie anticipated his teachers’ and classmates’ reactions to his hilarious appearance!
I picked Pumpkin Pie up at the end of a silly fun-filled day and he went straight outside to play with Scooter from down the street. Husband came home early and then the brothers eventually showed up, too. I took Doodle Dog for a walk and when I got back, Husband was playing Four Square (Husband would like me to stress that he won at Four Square) with Pumpkin Pie and a bunch of other kids a couple of doors down. After they came home and we were all together in the house, I realized that they had all been playing together for an hour and no one even noticed anything different about Pumpkin Pie! No one so much as blinked an eye! Seriously? I know he picks out some perfectly whacktacular outfits, and wears a Spiderman costume as often as he wears real clothes, but seriously?
I asked Husband about it and he said: Oh. I just thought that’s what he put on this morning.
I am going to reframe this experience as a demonstration of the how accepting everyone here on Cloud 8 is, rather than an example of cluelessness and supreme unobservant-ness. Oy vey. Boys.
Ahhh, the bittersweet end of preschool? To me the best part was ending the preschool payments!
That certainly helps with the sweet! The next few weeks with him home and the brothers in school still will be fun and likely a little slow, too!
d’awww he’s too cute… spirit weeks are fun ❤

You would be in here more often if I had more time to write! 😉
